Production Companies

Deconstruction: "Fright Films" production company credit

  • The titles are introduced with a fading transition from black
  • No non-diegetic sound is used though a slight hum can be heard as off screen diegetic
  • Faded, antique style colours occupy the screen which suggest the film will be set in an old fashioned or technologically outdated setting.
  • The typewriter is vintage and aligned to the centre of the screen to draw attention

  • When typing, the typewriter creates a diegetic clicking noise with each letter and still no other non-diegetic can be heard. The noise is very clear and is a contrast to the muted sounds of the previous opening credits which helps to draw the attention of the audience towards the company
  • "FRIGHT FILMS" is spelt out in all capital letters in a classic monospaced serif font. This typeface suggests regularity and tradition within the oncoming film and would be a good choice of fonts for our production company

  • As a single camera angle is used and no editing (except the transition into the title) is used, the entire production seems basic and straight forward which is a common convention of horror movies as it suggests there is an underlying, complex plot or character base which will surface slowly and create tension
  • A total of 4 seconds long, the titles pass quickly and, as the font is very small, it could be hard for the audience to read it. For that reason, we would use a larger font for our production company title and throughout the rest of our opening credits
