Experimenting with Fast Editing Techniques
We are hoping to have cut scenes of fast editing. We will include a variety of clips that fit in with our plot, so that we can change the tempo of the film opening and also increase the suspense as we can change the amount of time between the fast editing and the length of it.- I placed the preliminary clips in a random order to then edit. I sorted through the clips to ensure that I didn't have any clips that were unfocused or too long.
2. I used the magnifying glass in the bottom right hand corner to zoom into the timeline to make editing the clips easier.
3. I got rid of any diegetic sound on the clips to improve continuity editing and to ensure that I do not focus of the sound of the clips and only on editing. I did this by dragging the decibels of each clip don to 0.
4. I used the blade tool (shown in picture) to cut the clips to the shorter clips that I want. I used multiple sections of each clip to be able to create transitions between a lot of clips. I deleted the clips that I wouldn't be able to/want to use.
5. I deleted the spaces between the clips so that the timeline was complete again.
6. I rearranged the clips so that they formed an order in which was continuous but also had reason. I wanted the clips to jump from different clips each time but also look as though they are related.
7. To include some different effects on clips I copied one of my favourite and placed it next to the original - a clip of a figure standing in front of a bright light and the water vapour from the breath can be seen.
8. I reversed the repeated clip but changing the effect (as shown in the picture).
9. To improve the effect made by reversing the clip I increased the speed of the clip by 2x (shown in the image).
10. This is the finished timeline.

Evaluation:
What went well:
- I think the overall clip worked really well. I will repeat the process with our real clips, although the clips will be different so I may use different effects on the clips if it looks better.
- The process as quite easy to finish and therefore we can spend a lot of time making touches to the end result to ensure that we get it perfect.
Even better if:
- As the clips are so quick, we will have difficultly finding sound to match the clip if we don't make our own.
- The effects may not look as good with different clips, so it will take me time to experiment what will look best with our final clips.
