My prop for supernatural horror
I got my inspiration for this from the film The Possession. In this film there is a ancient, possessed box that is made of aged, black wood with Arabic inscriptions on it to show it is of religious origin and could be used for demonic purposes. Seeing this inspired me to used an object and engrave supernatural symbols on to it to make it seem as if it has been used to possess someone in ritual or another method.
Step 1. Found this rock in North Devon on the side of a cliff
Step 2. I carved supernatural symbols onto it with a knife
Step 3. Used fake blood to make it look like someone had performed a ritual on it.
Evaluation
Pro's
- Easy to make as all you need to find is a rock, sharp tool and blood
- Equipment is cheap
- You can manipulate it into anything you want
- Doesn't take a huge amount of time to create. Roughly 5-20 minutes
- It was enjoyable and fun to make
- Engravings don't become as visible as when first in engraved after about 5 minutes due to this type of rock
- The blood didn't really work for this genre but for a slasher horror maybe would have worked better
- The engravings may to some people just like the rocks formation instead of the supernatural symbols I intended to achieve.
